Workin’

Well, I didn’t make it into work yesterday. I hung out with the girlfriend at the Farmer’s Market and then just relaxed the rest of the day. But, workin’ for a couple hours before I head out for an afternoon full of golf today:

Getting very frustrated…

Short Day…

Woke up around 9am. Ran a few errands. My buddy came over and we played som N64 (NBA Live 2000 and Bond) until noon. Went over and met another friend for lunch at Buffet City, came back home, and turned on the laptop:

Table 1: Got shortstacked. Blinds 50/100, I shoved AdKd UTG+1 for 410, 2 other all ins behind me (on w/ Js the other w/ bullets) preflop. The flop hits an ace and rivers a king, but still lose to top set…

Table 2: Hung around in this one. We got 4-handed with one big stack around 8-9K, and then I was part of the other 3 w/ about 1.5K, blinds around 80/160 and 100/200. I ended up taking out the 2 small stacks and going HU, ~4K vs. 9.5K. A few hands into it. Flop 410J rainbow. I have Q9o. Min bet on flop and I call. Turn K. Big stack checks, I bet 400, he raises to 1600 I call. River is a blank, he bets 1K, I shove for 1.5K, he calls w/ the nuts AQo!

Table 3: Not much action early on, I picked off a small bluff and get up to about 1,800. Hand #29, blinds 30/60, I raise 3xBB from the cutoff and the BB calls. Flop JcKhKs. Check check. Turn 4d, check check. River Kc, he bets the pot and I call. He shows KdJh, down to 1,020. I just keep blinding down. Hand #51, blinds 60/120, I shove QhJc UTG+1, no callers. Hand #54, blinds 60/120, folded to me on the SB. I shove 5d3d for 620. BB calls w/ KdJd. Flop QsQc5c. Turn 9h. River Jh. I’m out in 5th.

Early Start

I woke up about 8:30 and got into work before 9am!

Table 1: I blind down to about 700 in chips, blinds are 50/100, folded to me on the button. I shove all in w/ K8o, SB calls w/ AKo and wins. Out in 5th.

Grindin’

Woke up at a decent time. Made a ham and cheese hot pocket and turned on the laptop.

Table 1: Hand #33. Blinds 30/60, UTG min raises, I have pocket Qs and shove for 1,090, he calls HU w/ AdKh. My Queens hold and I double up. Hand #57, blinds 50/100. We’re 6-handed and I raise 3xBB from the cutoff w/ pocket Ks, the BB calls. Flop 2d4h9h. He bets 400 and I call. Turn 6d, he shoves all in and I call off my 1,340. He shows Ac10d, the River is a 8d and I’m up to 4,130. From there, I coasted into HU play; I had 4,950, he had 8,550. W/in 24 hands, he picked me apart and I finished in 2nd.

Table 2: Didn’t play a significant hand until Hand #54, blinds 60/120, we’re 6-handed, big stack limps UTG and I shove from the cutoff w/ Ac3c, no callers. I won a couple other pots basically involving the blinds. Hand #84, I limp into the final 3. Hand #91, blinds 100/200. Button calls, SB folds, I check. Flop 5sQs9c, I check he bets 200 I call. Turn 4d, I check he bets 200 I call. River 8h, I bet 600, he min raises I call. He shows Js10d for the nuts, down to 1,200! I grind back to 3,940. Hand #117, blinds 120/240, I raise to 600 from the button w/ 10dJh and the BB calls. Flop 5hJs8c, he checks, I bet 720, he min raises, I shove he calls w/ QcJd, he wins! Next hand, button folds, SB min raises to put me all in and I call w/ 7s4d, he shows Ac9c, his hand holds and I’m out in 3rd.

Turn Ac, I check button bets 385 and I call. River Kd, I check, the button shoves all in for 515 and I call. He shows pocket 2s and I’m up to 3K. I’ve won a few small ones, but mostly blinded down until Hand #70, we’re 6-handed, blinds 80/160, UTG+1 limps, cutoff limps, SB calls, I check the BB w/ pocket 4s. Flop Qs4cJs, checked to the UTG+1 who bets 480, folded to me and I raise to 1,080. He shoves for 1,790 and I call. He shows QhJc; my set of 4s hold and I’m up to 4,780. I win the next 3 pots by taking the blinds. Hand #80, we’re down to 4-handed.  Hand #84, blinds 100/200, button shoves for 1,514 and I call on the BB w/ pocket Aces. Flop 5d10sJc, Turn 3d, River 4d and I’m up to 8,334. Next hand another player goes out and we’re HU; he has 5,366. He is mostly limping preflop and I took down a majority of the pots. Hand #93, blinds 100/200, he limps on the button and I raise to 800 w/ pocket 7s, he calls. Flop 3sJdKc. I bet 600 and he calls. Turn 2h, check check. River 5c, I check he bets 400, I know I’m beat but want to see what he called 800 preflop w/ so I call; he shows Jc10h. Stacks are now at 9,134 and 4,366. Hand #100, blinds 100/200, I raise 600 on the button w/ AhKd, he shoves for 5,066 and I call; he shows pocket 3s. Flop Js4h2h. Turn 5d. River 3s, I win!

Workin’

So, I went to a job interview today. They’re hiring a lot of employees, 30-40 or so, so it’s very likely that I will be working full-time in a month or so. I still plan to play plenty of poker, twitter, and update this blog; But, due to the potential change in Internet Poker laws starting December 1, 2009, I thought it would be wise to have a guaranteed paycheck.

Table 2: Took this one down!…actually got very lucky. Last hand, blinds 80/160, I raise 3xBB w/ A4o, BB calls. Flop A36, he checks and I bet 480. He shoves all in for about 5K and I call. He shows A3 for 2 pair. Turn 2, River 6, my 4 kicker wins!

Table 3: Hand #6, blinds 15/30, one limper so I raise 4xBB w/ AhKh and he calls. Flop 6d8h9h, he checks I bet 180 he calls. Turn 2s, check check, River Ac, check check. Hand #15, blinds 25/50, one limper, I limp w/ Ac3c, blinds call. Flop Ad7cQs, blinds check, limper bets 100, I call, blinds fold. Turn 9s, he bets 150, I raise to 450 he folds, I’m up to 2,135. Hand #24, blinds 30/60, I raised 3xBB w/ AsQc, SB who is loose shoves all in for 735 and I call, he shows pocket 8s and they hold. Next hand I limp w/ 9s, the hijack raises 4xBB, I call w/ pocket 9s. Flop 3c7d9c, I check call 500. Turn 8h, I shove all in 535 and he calls w/ JsAd, I double up. Final hand #99, blinds 120/240, we’re 4-handed, button shoves all in for 2,095 and I call 1,815 all in w/ pocket Ks; he shows AcJh. Flop 10cQcQs, Turn 9s, River As…I’m out!

Back to work…

So I went on a short vacation over the weekend to Chicago with my girlfriend. It was her b-day on Sunday. We stayed at her friend’s place, went to a Cub’s game, ate some delicious pizza, and did a little sightseeing…But unfortunately, that all had to come to an end, and I’m back to work today!

Table 1: Everyone was grinding. Blinds up to 100/200, 7-handed. I shoved from the cutoff w/ J8o. SB shoved w/ 9s and BB shoved w/ AKo. 9 on the flop and I was out in 7th.

Table 3: Get down to 3-handed. One big stack, then the other guy and I were even stacked around 2,500. Blinds 120/240, I shoved all in on the SB w/ pocket 6s, BB calls w/ 4s, turned a four and I was out a few hands later.

Table 4: Down to 4-handed. The shortstack gets lucky and doubles up. The big stack around 8K is bullying. Finally folded to me on the SB. I shove KJo, BB calls w/ Q10o. The flop is 6J10, Turn 10, River blank and I’m out in 4th!

Short Day

Had a croissanwich for breakfast. Went on a walk with da pooch. Started packing for my trip to Chicago this weekend. Ate some lunch, and finally made it into work. Was planning to head out to Chicago around 4, but looks like the rest of the group will be ready a little sooner, so I’ll only be getting in one round of sngs today.

Alright, done for the day and pretty frustrated with my results. 4th place is unacceptable, especially 2 back-to-back tables. Time to pack and get ready to head out. This trip is mainly for my girlfriend since it’s her b-day on Sunday, but we’re throwing in a ball game too. I’ve been to Chicago a few times, but never been to a Cubs game, so definitely looking forward to the game tomorrow!

Grindin’

I woke up at a decent time today. Sat down at my first table around 9:30.

Table 1: Made it down to the final 4, 2 big stacks, 2 small stacks. The other shortstack doubled up w/ bullets on the button, so then I was left as the only shortstack. Blinds 60/120, I shoved ~900 all in w/ 36o, SB called w/ Ks10s, he hit a king and I was out in 4th.

Table 2: Finished in 4th again. This time, we were 5-handed. Blinds 60/120, UTG shoves all in for about 750, SB calls, I reshoved all in on the BB for about 1,500 w/ AKo, SB calls w/ pocket Queens. He flopped a queen and knocked us both out.

Table 3: I managed to make it HU in this one. I think I started out HU play ~2.5K to 11K. The blinds were getting big, 200/400, I doubled up, so I offered to chop with him, $108/$108. He wanted the ICM deal, but I declined. I looked him up on www.sharkscope.com and he only had 3 $33 sng games experience so I lobbied that it was fair to chop. He denied and we played for a few more hands. I got up to around 6K and he still wanted ICM and I wanted to split evenly; he denied it. We played some more and he got me down to 2.5K. I then got my stack back up to around 6 again and he offered me a $108/$108 split which I took.

Table 4: I may this one into the money quite easily. Blew my chips and went out in 3rd.
